Gail: "I want you to keep it. You're a tiny little creature."
This episode was actually pretty good and didn't focus too much on Andy and Sam which is always good.
The episode begins with Chris and Dov answering a police response at a frat house. They break up a fight only for Chris to lose it (again) beat up one of the frat brothers. This is when Dov discovers that one of them has a gone.
Next morning Chris is talking to his dealer who wants to be paid. Chris doesn't exactly tell him that his is a cop (of course because that would be stupid) he lies and tells him he will get paid after he has done working as a builder. Dov is talking to Chloe about Chris going berserk and she tells him that he did it last week during 'Fight Night'. This is when Dov starts to get suspicious.
During the usual meeting Steve aka Gail's brother who now dating Traci informs everyone that the gun that was found during Chris and Dov's arrest is unmarked which means someone is selling illegal firearms. Chris, Dov and Nick go undercover to the bar where the frat guy got the gun. After making initial contact Chris spots his dealer (uh oh). Dov wants to arrest him but Chris says to leave him be. After the gun deal reaches its next phase, Chris' dealer interrupts it so out of fear Chris arrests him thus exposing his identity and messing up the whole undercover op.
Oliver is looking for Gail everywhere because he needs her report from the gang related murders last week. But Gail is procrastinating. Chloe notices that something is wrong but Gail being Gail just ignores the problem.
Back in booking Chris is dealing with his dealer (bad choice of words) and he wants to expose Chris for being one of his clients. Chris tells him that it will all blow over if he can give him name which will then turn him into a confidential informant. And of course he wants to give him Chris' name. Chris manages to cam him down and get a name but Steve and Traci can't do anything with it so they gave it to the drug enforcement task force. They instead just want Chris to just lock him up. But Chris can't let that happen or he will be exposed as a druggie so Chris takes the evidence of cocaine that was brought in and replaces it with sugar. Once it was tested and they found out that it was sugar, they Steve and Traci had no choice but to let him go which makes Chris' ordeal over (for now).
Nick on the other hand has been flirting with a hot bartender all night. Using cheesy pick up lines which Steve thought would work but Traci knew that they wouldn't. Nick managed to save the entire undercover operation because the bartender that he was flirting with was in charge of the gun selling and he pieced it together just by looking at the time that she texted.
Gail comes clean about her hesitating to hand in the report. Turns out that the ice queen has a heart because not only did she find the murder victim but she found the murder victim's child. Oliver gives her some advice saying that from now on the cases are gonna get to her.
Andy is still fretting about Duncan, she thinks that she failed him but she didn't (he was just that bad). Turns out that he is not gonna go quietly. He's suing the entire division and Andy. So to get her mind off of it she decides to help Sam with a missing person case. A well loved teacher has gone missing. He cleared out his bank account and was selling his car online. When they thought that he got a new job, he didn't make it that far. At the end of the episode they find his body in the boot of his car, the one that he was selling. Which takes us to next weeks episode.
I thought that this episode was pretty good and not because it was focused on the other rookies and not just Andy. Am I the only one over the whole Sam and Andy drama. Honestly I preferred her with Luke or even Nick. So the hunt for the killer is on next week.
Grade B+
