It's not surprising really that the final season of Gossip Girl will be 10 episodes long, the series hasn't been the same for a long long time.
CW president Mark Pedowitz said "I'm a big believer in retrospectives and a big believer in allowing the audience to say farewell to their shows."
This could be like One Tree Hill's special goodbye (sniff) with the OTH special 'Always And Forever' which was awesome btw.

Im glad this show is ending, it hasn't been the same since season two or maybe three. Jenny needs to come back and so does Vanessa. I can honestly say that the only thing that im gonna miss about this show is Kristen Bell's voice overs
